Emma Taylor holds a Bachelor of Creative Industries (Dance), a Graduate Certificate in Creative Production and Arts Management, and a Master of Fine Arts (Dance) degree, researching dance on film, at the Queensland University of Technology.
Emma has worked as a dancer for companies and independent artists, and creates her own work. She has performed with Opera Queensland (Graeme Murphy’s Turandot, and Hansel and Gretel), OutCast Performing Arts, Untitled|Collective, and for independent dance artists including Stephanie Pokoj and Glen McCurley. Emma has toured ...2pm on a Cloudy Day, created with Kate Usher, for the 2010 Adelaide Fringe Festival, and Unspoken for VerveLab in Melbourne.
In 2009, Emma travelled to Vienna to study at the Impulstanz Dance Festival, with teachers such as Samantha Van Wissen, Antony Rizzi, Laura Aris Alvarez, and David Dorfman, among others.
In 2011, Emma undertook an apprenticeship at Kim Robards Dance in Denver, Colorado, and an internship in New York City with Untitled|Collective, under the mentorship of Ian RT Colless. While in New York, Emma also participated in workshops at the Capezio Peridance Center, the Broadway Dance Center, and Steps on Broadway.
Since returning to Australia, Emma's dance film, Triptych, has toured to the Adelaide Fringe Festival, presented at Holden Street Theatres. Through 2015, in addition to teaching at Brisbane Dance Theatre and Mad Dance House, and touring with and teaching for the Queensland Ballet's EdSquad, Emma continues creating, performing and teaching for companies and independent projects.
